Interpretation

  1. Le Sueur County Fair Association management reserves the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions, and differences in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of, connected with or incident to the fair.

  2. The management reserves the right to amend or add to these rules as it in its judgement may deem advisable.

  3. Competition is open to Minnesota in all departments unless otherwise specified.

  4. No exhibits will be accepted by mail.

Entries

Entry Requirement

  1. Exhibitor’s Ticket $1.00. All exhibitors must purchase a sesaon’s exhibitors’s ticket, which is good in all departments before entries will be accepted.

  2. All applicants for entries should be made on printed forms and in accordance with instructions thereon and rules of the premium list. The entry blanks, after being filled out and signed, must be filed with the secretary not later than the dates specified for the closing of entries in the various departments of the fair. The right is reserved to reject any entry offered.

  3. The fair management will use diligence to insure the safety of livestock or articles entered for exhibition, after their arrival and placement, but under no circumstances will it be responsible for any loss, injury or damage done, or occasioned by or arising from any animal or article on exhibition, and the exhibitor shall indemnify the fair management thereof, against all legal or other proceedings in regard thereto.

  4. Entries for premiums in the individual lots of grain, field seeds, fruits and forage shall not be permitted to appear as parts of collections.

  5. The superintendents of each department will not allow any article to be removed from grounds until 5:30 p.m. on the last day of the fair under penalty of forfeiture of the premium, except by permission of the executive committee.

  6. Exhibitors making entries and not exhibiting, shall forfeit all fees paid for entries. Exhibitors in the livestock department must pay upon filing application for entry, the fees required in these departments, plus exhibitor’s fee of $1.00 per exhibitor.

  7. Stock and articles must be entered in the name of the bona fide owners, and grain, vegetables, fruit, dairy products and domestic manufacture must have been raised or made by the exhibitors thereof during the past year. No article can be entered more than one year.

  8. Exhibitors must themselves see that the articles entered are delivered to the superintendent of the various departments; that they are properly ticketed and taken care of during the fair and afterwards removed.

  9. Grains may be exhibited in glass covered containers if not less than three quart capacity to avoid public handling.

  10. In all classes which call for register stock, all animals must be accompanied by certificates of registry, showing the animal is properly registered in the studbook, herdbook, or flockbook, which is recognized as being authentic for the breed which the animal is supposed to represent. All livestock entries of breeding class must be Registered, unless so specified. 4-H animals can only be exhibited if other class animals are in the class.

  11. Entries are limited to two in single lots and one in groups in livestock only.

  12. All exhibits of livestock must be on the grounds by Wednesday, 8:00 p.m., in order to compete for premiums in open class.

  13. Entries for cattle from outside Minnesota must be accompanied by certificates of health by approved veterinar­ians.

  14. In order to be assured of exhibiting livestock entries must be received by the secretary not later than August 10, 2019.

  15. All livestock entries will be accepted to the limit of space availability in that department. Entries may be refused on the determination of the department super­intendent that stalls or pens are filled to capacity in that division.

  16. ALL livestock entries not pre-registered by deadline date will pay an additional $1.00 a head per lot.

  17. Exhibitors must keep their stock, stalls and pens in good, neat condition and open for inspection from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. All litter must be thrown where directed by the superintendent.

  18. EXHIBITORS OF LIVESTOCK SHALL FURNISH THEIR OWN BEDDING. Exhibitors bringing their own hay and straw must have same in bales.

  19. ALL vehicles must pay the $5.00 parking fee un­less the driver has purchased a 4-Day Parking Permit for $15.00.

Summary of State Rules MN State Board of Animal Health

Livestock or poultry known by the exhibitor to have an infectious communicable disease or to have been exposed to an infectious, communicable disease, or to be from a quarantined herd or flock may not be entered in an exhibition. Warts and ringworm are considered communicable diseases. There­fore, livestock affected by these diseases cannot be exhibited. A statement from a veterinarian that an animal is being treated for these diseases is not acceptable.

All livestock will be inspected by the Official Veterinar­ian on the opening day of the exhibition and daily during the exhibition. The Official Veterinarian will order the immediate removal to a quarantine facility or removal from the exhibi­tion premises of any livestock with symptoms of infectious or communicable diseases. Animals placed in a quarantine facility must remain there until removed from the exhibition premises. They may not enter a show ring. This includes livestock with warts or ringworm.

All testing must be conducted prior to the exhibition, and a record of the test results on a test chart or Intrastate Certificate of Veterinary Inspection must accompany the tested animals. Livestock and poultry entered in a petting exhibit are not exempt from the exhibition rules if the animals are from more than one farm or there are other animals at the exhibit.

Poultry (originating from Minnesota) except waterfowl, and pigeons

  • Negative pullorum-typhoid test within 90 days, or record of origin from a flock tested negative within the last 12 months.

  • Turkeys must be tested at a laboratory for S. Typhimurium and Mycoplasmas, or have a statement of origin if less than 5 months old.

  • All chickens and turkeys must be from a pullorum-typhoid free flock. A health certificate from the breeder or dealer must be on file at the Extension Office. Poultry without the certificate may not be exhibited.

Dogs

  • Dogs over six months of age must be accompanied by a current Certificate of Rabies Vaccination issued by a Licensed Veterinarian.

Horses

  • All horses must have a negative Equine Infectious Anemia test within 12 months prior to the opening date of the exhibi­tion. A test is not required for suckling foals accompanying a negative dam.

Cattle, Sheep (originating from Minnesota)

  • No specific requirements NOTE: see general requirements

Cattle, Sheep and Poultry (not originating in Min­nesota)

  • Animals must meet the Minnesota importation requirements in addition to the requirements outlined in this summary. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection must list the name of the exhibition as consignee. Certificates will be accepted if examination and tests are conducted within 90 days prior to the exhibition.

LE SUEUR COUNTY ANIMAL HEALTH RULES ADDITIONS:

  • Drug Use - Drugs that are administered solely to alter the appearance or behavior of an animal are not allowed.

  • The official veterinarian will have the right to order any tests to assure compliance with the above rules.

  • Any member violating the above rules will forfeit ALL awards, trips, and premiums.

  • Pet and cat show animals are brought in only for the judg­ing. Cats must have proof of rabies vaccine. They are not housed at the fair.

PREMIUMS AND AWARDS

Premiums will not be awarded on articles or animals of inferior merit, regardless of the number in competition for a premium. The judges may award no premium, third, second or first premium as merit may warrant, stating the reason in writing when requested. Where there is competition and the judge considers an article or animal worthy, he may allow first premium.

NOTE: Judges shall not award more than one first, second or third placing in any one lot.

Section 1. No animal will be awarded a prize unless promptly brought into the show ring when lot is called.
